Workshop on WASH with faith-based leaders

GUWAHATI, Sept 12: A two-day regiol workshop on ‘Engagement on WASH with Faith-Based Leaders in Assam’ was iugurated at Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati on Monday. Organized under the aegis of UNICEF, Assam from September 12-13, the workshop is aimed at sensitizing the religious leaders of different faiths to create awareness among their community members about water, sanitation and hygiene so as to achieve the goals of Swacch Assam.

According to a press release, the key aspects of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) was dealt with during the workshop as those objectives still remain a challenge in many rural pockets of Assam.

Fr. Johnson Parackal, Director, DBI welcomed the dignitaries and the participants of the workshop. He said: “This is the first-ever regiol workshop on WASH organized with faith leaders of Assam  for the purpose of achieving the objective of a clean Assam or  a Swatch Assam. In his opinion, the faith leaders can play a critical role in achieving this dream. He welcomed the resource persons, the participants representing major religions in Assam and the facilitators of the workshop from Unicef and wished everyone a great success.
