World Disabled Day observed

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 6: “The government which cannot work for the betterment of differently-abled people of the state is a useless government,” said senior jourlist Adip Kumar Phukan in the special World Disabled Day observed by the Assam Association of the Deaf (AATD) at Northeast Disabled College of the city today.

Phukan also said: “The disabled people shouldn’t think that they are alone, because all are with them. Disabled people should feel proud instead as they can think and perform mentally better than other people. It is very unfortute that there is no educatiol institution for the disabled in the entire Northeast, barring a college in Guwahati that can provide education till 12th standard only. The government should take steps in this regard.”

The programme was organized on the occasion of World Disabled Day which was on December 3, but due to protest activities of AATD, they had to observe it today.
