World Trade Fair draws huge crowd

GUWAHATI, Oct 12: The 3nd World Trade Fair (WTF) organised by Joya Communication has drawn large crowds since the beginning of the event on October 2. The fair will continue till October 15. A replica of Taj Mahal made with fresh flowers has become the focal point of attraction at the fair.

Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal met with the foreign participants at the fair while visiting Maniram Dewan Trade Centre to promote India’s Act East Policy.

State Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary also interacted with the foreign participants and assured of all possible support to extend business in Assam. WTF, being held at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati, witnessed huge crowds marking the maiden participation of Malaysia in any trade fairs in North East India for their quality, variety and uniqueness.

Most of the visitors at the trade fair were attracted to the unique products like low priced foreign crockery, cosmetics from Singapore, perfumes from Ajmal Perfumes, bags, accessories, footwears, artificial flowers, and decorative items from Thailand, Melamine products from Bangladesh and famous dryfruits from Afghanistan.

Priyanka Bose, a school student who was visiting the fair with her father to buy crockery some Malaysian pavilion said: “I have heard that Malaysia is renowned for its crockery and I believe it’s true to some extent. I bought few sets of low priced crockery sets”. The restaurant area with a life size replica of Taj Mahal which is made from flowers with along with swimming pool with boating facility for children is also attracting huge crowd.
