Xatra honours spiritual leader

GUWAHATI, Oct 15: A programme depicting the rich cultural heritage of Xatras was oragnized recently at Sualkuchi Xati Xatra in the honour of Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy, a noted spiritual thinker, writer and philanthropist who was in the State.

The Xatra welcomed Dr Satpathy in the traditiol Assamese way by a fulam gamosa and a colourful jaapi. He was accompanied by a team comprising senior officers of the State Government, the district as well as officers from other parts of India, in addition to the local devotees. The cultural programme comprised  traditiol Xatriya dance, Sri Krish Bhaag, depicting Sri Krish Leela and Bortaal. A beautiful rendition of the Borgeet composition of Sankardeb and Madhabdeb verses was also performed.  After the cultural programme, Dr Satpathy congratulated all the artistes who had put in a brilliant performance.

During his visit to the Sualkuchi Xatra, Dr Satpathy was also taken around the Xatra to have a glimpse of the Xatriya way of life. Dr Satpathy visited the mghar and saw the Guru Asa, Manikut and mythological figures of Garuda etc., inside the mghar. He also had a detailed interaction with the Xatra magement, including the Xatradhikar.
