Youth arrested on charge of attempt to rape

GUWAHATI, August 22: The local people of Ramsing Chapori in the Noonmati area in the city handed over one Siaram Mohato to the police today on the charge of making an attempt to rape a woman last night.  According to reports, the husband of the woman was not in the house when Mahato was allegedly making an attempt to rape her. However, in the meantime, the husband of the woman arrived home, caught hold of Mohato and started to beat him up. However, Mohato could escape from the grip of the man and fled. After a while, according to reports, Mohato came back with one of his colleagues and began to beat up the husband. With the woman raising a hue and cry, the local people rushed to the house and caught hold of Mahato, while his accomplice fled the scene. He was then handed over to the police, but not before bashing him up. The husband of the woman lodged an FIR with Noonmati police in this connection. Mohato is in judicial custody now.
