Zoo authority denies minister's allegation

GUWAHATI, Nov 1: Reacting to State Forest and Environment Minister Pramila Rani Brahma’s statement that the animals kept in the State Zoo-cum-botanical Garden in the city were not provided with adequate food, ACF Pradipta Baruah of the Zoo said that the food given to the animals are in accordance with the advice of veteriry doctors, and as such the question of giving more or less food to the animal does not arise. “We give nine kg meat to every tiger a day,” he said. He, however, denied the allegation that a deer fled the zoo recently.
