As the Russian invasion in Ukraine enters its sixth day on Tuesday 1st March, more than 100 civilians are already killed including children and at least 14,000 Indians are still left stranded in the war-hit country of Ukraine.
However, in the previous week, thousands of Indian nationals were brought back home to India from Ukraine through the initiative by the Indian embassy in Ukraine.
Among those Indian nationals brought back to the country and those still stuck in Ukraine, most are medical students pursuing their courses in Ukraine.
Throughout this conflict between the two European nations, it came to light that a huge number of students from different countries choose Ukraine to pursue their medical education.
Around 80,000 international students study in Ukraine and a total of 18,095 are Indians as per the data provided by the Ministry of Education and Science in Ukraine. 24% of overseas students in Ukraine were Indians in the year 2020.
