NEW DELHI: The Chinese government maintained around 60,000 Chinese troops across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh even throughout the harsh winter.

On the other hand, India has also put a similar number of soldiers on standby to ensure that China does not engage in any mischief.

While 60,000 Chinese troops remain in the LAC, all of the Chinese Army's summer training personnel have been transferred from the regions bordering Ladakh. The danger perception exists, according to top government officials speaking to national media.

The Indian Army has expedited the formation of its counter-terrorism Rashtriya Rifles Uniform Force in the Ladakh area, according to sources, in order to bolster the 14 Corps.

According to sources, the Indian Army has also maintained a pre-deployment to deal with any potential threats. In case forces need to be sent forward quickly, the Indian Army is keeping the routes surrounding the LAC open.

According to the Defense Ministry's year-end evaluation, Chinese unilateral and aggressive measures to change the status quo by force in more than one place on the LAC have been effectively repelled. At various levels, the two countries' military services have communicated to discuss the issue.

After continuous collaborative efforts, disengagement was effectively carried out in a number of places. Force levels have been appropriately increased in areas where disengagement has yet to occur. The Army's mandate of maintaining territorial integrity and battling China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) forces and military infrastructure has resulted in force reform and realignment as a consequence of threat assessments and internal talks.

Soldiers continue to deal with the Chinese army in a firm, decisive, and peaceful manner, while maintaining India's territorial integrity.
