After School Beats Up Girl For Consuming Alcohol At Parents' 'Request', A Video Of The Girl Being Flogged Goes Viral

Nigeria: A video of a girl being flogged by four men in a madrasa in Nigeria has gone viral. The video is drawing sharp criticism from the general public all around the world. 

In the viral video, a girl can be seen kneeling down and being clobbered by four men in a madrasa in Nigeria. A madrasa is an educational institution for Islamic instruction.

As per reports, the girl was being beaten up by the school authorities at the 'request' of her parents.

This incident took place in the Kwara state of Nigeria. 

According to local reports, the girl's parents had asked the authorities of the madrasa to punish the girl for consuming alcohol at a birthday party.

Speaking to BBC, the father explained, "I informed the school about the incident and I personally requested them to give her the appropriate punishment, and I insisted I should be present when they carried it out."

The madrassa flogging viral video spread reached far and wide and was received with much shock and criticism. 

As per local news, a suspension order has been issued for the head of the school. The girl also underwent medical treatment after she received wounds in the process of being beaten up.

However, the school authorities have argued that the punishment was just and in line with Islamic law.
