Brazilian Prez Bolsonaro invokes examples of Hanuman, Jesus as India relaxes ban on HCQ

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, was quick to express gratitude to PM Modi as he somewhat relaxed ban on export of hydroxychloroquine to other countries.

In a thank you letter to PM Modi, President Jair Bolsonaro wrote, "Just as Lord Hanuman brought the holy medicine from the Himalayas to save the life of Lord Rama's brother Lakshmana, and Jesus healed those who were sick and restored the sight to Bartimeu, India and Brazil will overcome this global crisis by joining forces and sharing blessings for the sake of all peoples."

As India exports HCQ to other countries, media reports have suggested that there is a shortage of the drug in India itself.

The government has refused these claims. An official tweet is here:

"#PIBFactCheck : Media reports have come in, claiming shortages in availability of #Hydroxychloroquine or #HCQ after a limited quantity was allowed for export Fact : There is sufficient buffer stock for domestic needs and only surplus is being exported, says MEA #COVID2019india."
