Paris: France's iconic Eiffel Tower was on Wednesday evacuated and the area cordoned off, security sources said.

As per reports, a call made to police claimed that there was a bomb placed near the famous tourist attraction.

Immediately afterward, police reached the area and asked the visitors to leave immediately, reports said.

As per reports, Paris police have sent armed cops to guard the are and have cordoned off the area and inspection is underway to find out if the bomb threat was legitimate.

The police swiftly swung into action and cordoned off the area asking visitors to vacate immediately.

Other reports said that the Eiffel Tower was evacuated after a person allegedly shouted "Allahu Akbar."

However, these reports are yet to be confirmed.
