Pakistan: Imran Khan to Appear in Court Today Involving Euro 190 Mn Case

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former Prime Minister of the country will show up in court in the National Crime Agency's EUR 190 million Al Qadir case.

In relation to the EUR 190 million (PKR 60 billion) National Crime Agency (NCA) affair, the federal government has already listed former prime minister and PTI leader Imran Khan's name on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Sources with knowledge of the issue claim that Imran Khan's name was added to the ECL after receiving clearance from the federal cabinet at the National Accountability Bureau's request in Rawalpindi.

According to media reports, the NAB also recommended adding Bushra Bibi, Imran's wife, to the ECL in a case similar to this one for which a letter will be sent to the interior ministry.

Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and others are the subjects of a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiry into the purchase of hundreds of canal-front properties in the name of the Al Qadir University Trust, which caused a loss to the national exchequer of 190 million pounds.

Khan and other defendants are accused of altering PKR 60 billion, or 190 million pounds, that was delivered to the government by the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom.

According to the allegations, the National Crime Agency (NCA) of Britain sent PKR 60 billion, or 190 million pounds at the time, to the government, and Khan and other suspects allegedly altered it.

Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, had his bail in the Al Qadir Trust corruption case extended by the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday for an additional three days, with instructions to contact the appropriate accountability court.

A division bench under the direction of Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb issued the directive.

The high court's grounds were secured tightly. As his security guards held up bulletproof shields, Khan was seen entering the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in a video posted to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party's official Twitter account, according to the media.

The IHC ordered Khan to go before the appropriate accountability court at the same time that it extended his bail in the case for three days.

The PTI chief cannot be detained by the government until May 15 in a number of cases, including unreported ones, recorded across the nation, the court ordered on May 12.

The arrest restriction was extended by the court until May 31 during the second hearing. Additionally, the court will hear the former prime minister's two additional bail requests.
