WASHINGTON: Indian-American attorney Varoon Modak has assumed the role of senior counsel for ballot access in the re-election campaign of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming 2024 Presidential elections. The Erie County Democratic Party's statement announced Modak's appointment alongside Alana Mounce, who will hold the position of ballot access director for the Biden-Harris campaign. The team, which also includes Mounce, will oversee the strategic campaign efforts aimed at securing President Biden's presence on the ballot across all 57 states and territories. Additionally, they will lead the critical delegate selection process, as stated by the party release.

Building upon the foundation established during the 2020 campaign and through the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the ballot access team will leverage existing infrastructure, including volunteer and supporter networks. This collaborative effort, led by Modak and Mounce, will play a pivotal role in engaging with President Biden's key supporters, underlining the significance of this election, as emphasized by Julie Chavez Rodriguez, the Campaign Manager for the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign.

Alana Mounce brings with her experience from pivotal roles in battleground states during the presidential campaigns of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Together with Modak, she is tasked with devising fresh and innovative methods to mobilize and organize the enthusiastic Biden-Harris supporter base, reinforcing the campaign's efficacy.

Julie Chavez Rodriguez commended the expertise and dedication of Mounce and Modak in this domain, affirming their pivotal role in ensuring the inclusion of the Biden-Harris ticket across all 57 states and territories. Modak, with a history of serving as counsel at the Elias Law Group, possesses extensive experience advising federal and nonfederal candidates and party committees on matters related to ballot access and campaign finance. His background also includes service as in-house counsel for a prominent national political organization and as a judicial law clerk in a California bankruptcy court.

"The stakes of this election could not be higher and Alana and Varoon will spearhead the process to ensure the Biden-Harris ticket is on the ballot in all 57 states and territories," said Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager.

"Alana and Varoon are extraordinarily talented, hardworking, and experienced on this issue. Our campaign is stronger with their leadership," she added.

Hailing from California, Modak received his education at the University of California and later pursued studies at the Georgetown University Law Center. His legal career encompasses positions at various political law firms. With his inclusion in the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign team, Modak's expertise promises to contribute significantly to the campaign's strategic efforts, reaffirming the dedication to secure a prominent place on the ballot for the upcoming elections.
