James Bond's Stolen Ashton Martin Found After 25 Years

NEW YORK: An Ashton Martin DB5 of Hollywood star James Bond, which was stolen, has been found after a period of 25 years. The car was first seen in the franchise's third film Goldfinger. The creator of 007 Ian Flemming had initially decided to make the secret agent drive a DB Mark III by the company, however, the film's special effects expert, John Stears, persuaded him for using the DB5 prototype.

Sean Connery, who had played Bond's role in that movie, drove the car and used various weapons and gadgets equipped in the vehicle to complete his missions. A deep tale of love began between Bond and Ashton Martin from that movie. In several other Bond films, the car was used and it became popular gradually. It was sold at an auction in the year 1986 for $275,000. 11 years later in 1997, it disappeared from its storage place at Boca Raton airport in Florida. At the time of the car's disappearance, it was insured for an amount of $4.2 million.

As per recent media reports after 25 years of the car's mysterious disappearance, the car has been found. A DB5 was spotted recently and it has the same VIN possessed by the stolen car. Investigators are of the view that the vehicle is a part of a private collection in the Middle East. The found car is worth $25 million, reports revealed.

Aston Martin DB5 is one of the most famous cars in the world. It may also be mentioned that the car model which was used in the film has various customizations like weapons, tire shredders and smoke distributors among others.
