Johnny Depp Spends Over Rs 48 Lakh At Indian Restaurant 'Varanasi' In Birmingham

Birmingham: It seems like Hollywood actor Johnny Depp is on Cloud 9 after his recent triumph in the court battle against his ex-wife Amber Heard in a defamation lawsuit. The Hollywood star was recently spotted dining at an Indian restaurant in Birmingham, England.

But, one might wonder as to what is the big deal about having dinner at a restaurant? Well, in Depp's case, he ended up spending a staggering amount of $60,000 (around Rs 46.62 lakh) in the restaurant.

According to reports, the actor met with his friends, including Jeff Beck, an English musician who is at the Birmingham leg of his tour. It is interesting to note that he reserved the whole restaurant to himself for a few hours so that he could catch up with his friends and enjoy some privacy.

The actor showed up at the Indian restaurant with 20 other friends. The restaurant's manager informed the media that Depp behaved in a "humble and down to earth" manner and also spent some time having a chat with the restaurant's staff and clicking pictures with them and their families.

As per reports, the party comprised of a wholesome meal, which included dry rice platters with appetizers such as chicken tikka masala, shish kebabs, king prawn starters and they also relished some lamb curry with Indian bread.

Besides these items, Johnny Depp also ordered the most expensive cocktail on the menu called 'The Jewel of Varanasi' which includes 500 Hennessy Paradis Imperial, Grand Marnier, Quail Egg Whites, seeds from a Vanilla Pod, Lemongrass Syrup, 24ct Gold Leaf and Edible Flowers and it is served after 24 hours of notice as the drink is listed as a 'premium drink'.

The manager of the restaurant refrained from disclosing the actual bill but it is being widely speculated that the amount was well over five figures.

"We made more money from Depp's visit than we did from our busiest night of the week, which is a Saturday when we have around 400 diners," Mohammed Hussain, operations director of Varanasi, told the media.

Later, the restaurant took to their official Facebook account to share the pictures of their visit.

"The most talked about person on the planet right now joined us for dinner last night ! We had the greatest of pleasure to be in the presence of Johnny Depp @johnnydepp and Jeff Becks @jeffbeckofficial !

What an amazing and humble experience. Only at the Varanasi Restaurant !" the restaurant wrote.
