Man Wears 15 shirts to avoid paying for excess baggage of 8 kgs

The most common headache for the air travelers is the fine for the extra luggage and despite the utmost efforts of minimizing the luggage weight, one finally ends up paying extra for the extra luggage. However, one innovative and rather funny effort to avoid fine for the extra luggage has come to light that has gone viral on social media. The video footage of a man named John Irvine has surfaced online as he is seen to wear 15 shirts and jumpers one above another to avoid the extra luggage fine.

Scottish traveler John Irvine while travelling from Nice in France to Edinburgh airport with his family was informed by the airport authority that his luggage weighed an extra 8 kilograms. The extra luggage would mean being charged with a fine and as John was not willing to pay the fine, he found out a pretty funny and innovative way to avoid the fine. John decided to wear all his shirts and jumpers that were showing as extra weight and meanwhile, all his actions were being captured by his son Josh.

John wore a pile of clothes on his body to make sure that he does not have to pay for the extra luggage. However, as seen in the video, John was in all sweats for the pile of clothes worn on his body.

John’s son Josh said, “The lassie at the counter asked us if we wanted to pay extra but my dad just looked up at her and said ‘Hey, watch this.’” Josh then started, “[He] zipped open the suitcase and quickly flung on about 15 jumpers to help cut down the weight.”

However, Josh, as heard in the video footage, was all laughs and giggles at his father’s act. Stating his condition at that moment, Josh describes, “My ribs were sore from laughing. The staff were in stitches but trying to get through the security was a struggle because they thought he was trying to smuggle something under all his clothes.”

This was indeed very funny for Josh and also for others who could witness such an act of avoiding luggage fine. However, as added by Josh, the family could get through the security checking.
