Manchester (England): The English Premier League Club, Manchester United's system was attacked by Cybercriminals.

The club was quick to take actions to contain the attack and is currently working with expert advisers to investigate the incident and minimize the ongoing IT disruption.

The Northwest English club said that it was confident about 'critical systems' being double-checked for the match to be staged at Old Trafford, ensuring the team can host West Bromwich Albion.

"Our cyber defences identified the attack and shut down affected systems to contain the damage and protect data," said the United Club.

They admitted that the operation was a sophisticated one and by organised cybercriminals. However, the club has extensive protocols and procedures in place for such an event and are rehearsed for it thoroughly.

United said that it was not aware of any breach of personal data from supporters so far.
