Microsoft announced its new work-from-remote area option

Washington: In yet another development, Microsoft has allowed its employees to work from remote areas permanently. This move is taken following the US tech giants, Twitter and Facebook, also making work-from-home a permanent option.

An American multinational tech giant, Microsoft has announced that its employee can now permanently work-from-home with the manager's approval.

While most of the employees can enjoy working from the comfort of their homes, however, a few job roles would need the presence of the employees. A few examples of such roles are needing access to hardware labs, data centers, etc. Several employees will be able to work part-time, without any formal approval from the managers.

In a note to the employees, the Microsoft's Chief People Officer, Kathleen Hogan says that the pandemic has made us think, live, and work in newer ways. The goal of Microsoft is to evolve the way they work with intention, which is guided by the employee data, input, and commitment to supporting the individual work styles and the business needs while living their culture.

The compensations and benefits of the company will vary according to its pay policy. The tech giant will cover the employee's remote working expenses for the permanent remote working employees, but anyone who decides to move away from the offices will bear their own relocation costs. Microsoft, who allowed its employee to work from home in March due to the pandemic, will also allow its employees to have flexible working hours without their manager's approval.
