Miami: An American Airlines passenger who flew from Buenos Aires to Miami was detained in Florida after he reportedly stole two credit cards and nearly $10,000 from two passengers.

The robber has been identified as Diego Sebastian Radio, who allegedly robbed two women mid-flight on July 5 when the aircraft was flying over international waters.

Sebastian was reportedly moving around the aircraft during the journey and sat in a seat not designated for him and which was located close to one of the victims.

This caught the attention of the crew members who noticed his unnatural movements and suspicion was automatically drawn towards him.

Thereafter, a crew member asked the victim to inspect her baggage after claiming to have seen Diego in what seemed like a woman's wallet.

According to the complaint, the victim was appaled to discover that $10,022 and 13,800 Argentine Pesos, or about $109, was missing from her possession.

A passenger who sat behind the woman overheard the chat, after which she scanned her luggage. Like the previous victim, she too was left flabbergasted after she found that 520 Argentine Pesos and roughly $710 were missing from her wallet.

The flight crew then immediately informed the Customs and Border Patrol, following which, they sent their officers to the plane's gate at Miami International Airport.

Diego's carry-on bag contained loose cash equal to the amount the victims claimed to be missing. Besides this, two credit cards which belonged to one of the victim, were also recovered from his jacket pocket during a pat-down.

Diego, who is facing federal theft allegations, confessed about stealing the cash and cards in an interview with law authorities after his arrest.
