Islamabad: In a major development, the Pakistan parliament has approved the Criminal law (Amendment) bill 2021seeks to punish habitual rapists by chemical castration.

Along with other 33 bills, the Pakistani parliament also passed the Criminal Law (Amendment) bill 2021 in a joint session on Wednesday.

"Chemical castration is a process duly informed by rules drafted by the prime minister. A person is declared incompetent of making sexual intercourse for any time of his life, as may be determined by the court through administration of medications which shall be carried out through a notified medical board," the bill read.

However, a few leaders termed as 'anti-Sharia and un-Islamic' by Islamist leader.

Terming the bill as anti-Sharia and un-Islamic, Senator of Jamaat-i-Islami, Mushtaq Ahmed disagreed over the bill. According to him, there is no mention of castration in Sharia.
