New York: Rapper Kanye West has officially changed his name to just "Ye".

As per the communication officer at the Los Angeles Superior Court, the rapper was granted his name change request by a Los Angeles judge.

The rapper had cited "personal reasons" as his reason to file for a name change request back in August.

"Ye" has already been used by the rapper as a nickname, previously. As a matter of fact, it was also the title of his 2018 album.

Soon after the release of his album he had tweeted, "The being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE."

As of Tuesday, the rapper is yet to change his name to Ye on his official Instagram and website, while his username on Twitter had already been named Ye for some time.

In an interview with radio host Big Boy in 2018, the rapper had revealed the religious significance of his new name.

He said, "I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it's I'm you, I'm us, it's us."

"It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything," he added.

The rapper was recently in the news for his divorce from his wife Kim Kardashian after nearly seven years of marriage.
