New Delhi: The race for United Kingdom's (UK) Prime Minister will end soon between Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss as the result will be declared on Monday.

The winner of the contest will be announced on Monday at 12:30 BST (17:00 IST) by Sir Graham Brady -- chair of the 1922 Committee of backbench Tory MPs and returning officer of the leadership election.

The special thing in this election is that Indian-origin Rishi Sunak is in a tough contest with Liz Truss, another candidate of his own party. Pre-election surveys show that Liz Truss is ahead in the race for the post of Prime Minister.

Nearly, after about 6 weeks of rallies and campaigning, the fate of both the candidates' Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss will be decided today. The winning candidate will replace Boris Johnson at 10 Downing Street.

Rishi Sunak on Sunday said that he would cooperate with the next government if he lost in the race for the leadership of the Conservative Party. In an interview with BBC, the former UK finance minister of Indian origin said he plans to remain a member of parliament if he loses to Foreign Minister Liz Truss.

When asked about his future plans, Sunak said, "I look forward to supporting the Conservative government in any way possible."

"We've just finished this campaign and I'll need to get over it," he said, to whom he would consider running for a second time for the top position at 10 Downing Street.

Rishi Sunak, who created history by becoming the first Indian-origin MP in the race for the post of Prime Minister of Britain, ended his 'Ready for Rishi' campaign by thanking his team and supporters on Saturday.

Most of the surveys and media reports have been speculating that when the results of the election to replace Boris Johnson will be announced on Monday, Foreign Minister Liz Truss will be victorious.
