s: South African speedster Dale Steyn announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Tuesday.

He took to Twitter via a tweet on Tuesday. Besides, he also spoke to a global news channel and shared about the same. He said Covid-19 has partially impelled him to take the decision of bidding the final good bye to cricket, which has been his "heart and soul" for almost two decades.

Known for his lethal spells, Steyn (38) said he is looking forward to starting life again. He added that he started seeing life from different aspects due to Covid-19 and opined that if the game did not give him the "fun" anymore, it's not worth being associated with it.

Steyn, who was South Africa's highest Test wicket-taker with 439 scalps in 93 games, made his professional debut at the age of 20 in 2003 in a first-class game for Northerns. He played his last T20I in March 2020. However, he was not offered a national contract that April and was not available for South Africa's home series against England last year.

Out of 42 ODI series wins for South Africa, Steyn was part of the team in 28 wins and seven out of 20 T20I series wins. He played in two 50-over World Cups, in 2011 and 2015. In the 2015 World Cup, he had bowled the last over in the semi-final against New Zealand that South Africa, which was one of the most favourite teams, lost.

Born on June 27, 1983, Steyn is regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time and the best test bowler of his generation. He was awarded the ICC Test Player of the Year in 2008.
