KABUL: The capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, saw a severe bomb blast on Monday. The culprit, a suicide bomber, blew off explosives close to the entrance of the Russian Embassy in Kabul.

The incident led to the death of 20 people. The deceased also includes 2 Russian diplomats.

Local media reported the death of as many as 20 people, inclusive of 2 Russian diplomats in the explosion outside the nation's embassy in Kabul.

The miscreant approached the gate of the embassy after detonating the bombs. Consequently, armed guards shot down the attacker dead.

The head of the police district where the attack took place, Mawlawi Sabir, stated that the Russian embassy (Taliban) guards identified the suicide attacker on his way to his target and eventually shot him. He also added that there wasn't any information about casualties until then.

Russia stands among the few countries that have not closed their embassy in Kabul after the Taliban's invasion of Afghanistan last year.

The Taliban-ruled Afghanistan has been experiencing frequent bomb blasts. Kabul strands as one of the topmost regions to experience bomb affairs.

Another similar incident commenced in Herat province on Friday, which took the life of a prominent Afghan cleric. The incident involved a bomb blast which created havoc in a mosque in the Herat province.

In previous instances of suicide-bombing attacks in Kabul, an explosion took place during the domestic T20 league Shpagize Cricket League at the Kabul International Stadium in Kabul. Reports mentioned the injured count to be as many as four people.

The attack was presumed to be a suicide bombing attack, which happened while Pamir Zalmi and Band-e-Amir dragons, two domestic franchise clubs, were playing against each other.

The incident received the confirmation of the Kabul Police Headquarters who also reported that there wasn't any casualty. This incident also had the presence of certain UN officials.
