The World is Not Stupid, the World is not Forgetful: S Jaishankar

NEW YORK: The international community has not forgotten about the menace of terrorism created by Pakistan said the External Affairs Minster of India, S Jaishankar. He mentioned this while talking to reporters at a United Nations Security Council event. He added that the Covid-19 pandemic might have put a break in the procedures, but the world still sees Pakistan as the source of terrorism.

S Jaishankarwas was participating in an event held under India's presidency of the Council on 'Global Counterterrorism Approach: Challenges and Way Forward', when he made this comment on December 15, Thursday.

"I know we've been through two and a half years of Covid and a lot of us have brain fog as a result. But I assure you the world has not forgotten where terrorism emanates from, who has their fingerprints over a lot of activities in the region and beyond the region. So, I would say that it's something which they should remind themselves before indulging in the kind of fantasies which they do," said the minister.

He was responding to a question about the allegation of Pakistan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar. She had earlier mentioned that "no country had used terrorism better than India". An 11-year-old comment by previous United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton was also bought into the discussion.

Mentioning their actions, the minister said that Pakistan should clear up their actions and try to be a good neighbour to India. He added that the world is not stupid to forget its actions and policies in the past.

"You know, you're asking the wrong Minister when you say how long will we do this? Because it is the Ministers of Pakistan who will tell you how long Pakistan intends to practice terrorism. At the end of the day, the world is not stupid, the world is not forgetful. And the world does increasingly call out countries and organisations and people who indulge in terrorism, " said the minister, while responding to a question by a Pakistani journalist. It was about how long South Asia is going to see terrorism disseminating from New Delhi, Kabul, and Pakistan.
