Thousands sign open letter to thank Jeremy Corbyn

LONDON: Nearly 18,000 people have signed an open letter to say “thank you” to Jeremy Corbyn for being a “kind and compassionate” leader, almost a week after his Labour Party suffered its worst election performance since 1935. The Labour leader has resisted calls to immediately resign, despite losing 60 seats in a crushing defeat in the December 12 general election to Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his ruling Conservatives, reports metro.co.uk. The letter, however, praises Corbyn for being a “role model” to the Labour Party while criticizing the “extraordinary barrage of attacks” against him. (IANS)
