New Delhi: A 19-year-old man named Jaswant Singh Chail has been arrested for threatening to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II in revenge for the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Reportedly, the accused was detained on December 25 on the premises of the Royal's Berkshire residence; days after a video went viral on Snapchat which showed a man armed with a crossbow.

According to the Sun newspaper, Chail spoke about the detailed plans to assassinate the Queen in the viral video.

He was seen in the video saying sorry for what he has done and what he will do and added that he will try to kill Elizabeth, Queen of the Royal Family.

''This revenge will be for those who have died in the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It is also for those who were humiliated and killed on the basis of their race,'' he added.

In the said video, he claimed to an Indian Sikh and he revealed his name as Jaswant Singh Chail.

However, reportedly, the Metropolitan police arrested him under the UK's Mental Health Act.

However, his father Jasbir Singh Chail claimed that his son was of unsound mind.
