WHO a part of China's COVID-19 cover-up, claims 'whistleblower' virologist Dr. Li-Meng Yan

New Delhi: Dr Li-Meng Yan, the Chinese virologist who recently claimed that the COVID-19 virus was developed in a government laboratory in Wuhan, has said that the World Health Organization (WHO) is very much part of China's "cover-up."

In a recent interview, Yan, who investigated the origin of the virus during the first outbreak in Wuhan, has claimed that the Chinese government was aware of the spread of the COVID-19 disease.

Yan has also claimed that Wuhan's wet market, where the novel coronavirus is said to have originated, is just a "smokescreen" from the Chinese Communist Party.

The dortor further added that there is enough evidence to prove that the virus is man-made. "The genome sequence is like a human fingerprint. Based on this you can identify these things. I will [use this] evidence to tell people why this has come from the lab in China, why they are the ones who made it," she said.

Indicating that President Xi Jinping was involved in the "cover up" and hiding the number of cases in Wuhan, the doctor said that people who knew the situation, were told to be "silent".

She further added that the "proof" (that the virus is man-made) will be accessible to all. Anyone, even if they have no biology knowledge, will be able to read it, and check and identify and verify it themselves, she has said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Li fled to the United States in April fearing ill-treatment after she claimed that the Chinese government tried to silence anyone who tried to raise the alarm when the outbreak was first reported.

She now claims that the Chinese government is trying to using social media to tarnish her image, and is conducting cyber-attacks on her to intimidate her family in China. Recently, her Twitter account was also suspended.
