Xi Jinping Becomes the President of China for the Third Term

BEIJING: Xi Jinping gets the third term as the President of China on Friday making him the most powerful leader that the current generation of the country has seen. The stamp on the appointment for five more years comes after he was declared the head of the Chinese Communist Party in the Month of October.

After Xi Jinping was declared the head of the Chinese Communist Party in the month of October, the president has seen several protests from multiple parts of the country. The government faced widespread criticism over its stringent zero covid policy as well as the huge number of deaths after that.

Selected delegates gave Xi Jinping another term as China's president and re-elected him as head of the country's Central Military Commission in a unanimous vote. The Great Hall of the People on the edge of the Tiananmen Square of Beijing was decorated for this event. Apart from the banners and carpets, the military band also played music for the event. A digital monitor on the side of the stage showed the final tally as all 2952 votes were cast in favour of another term of Xi Jinping.

Xi Jinping also took the oath with the Chinese constitution which was telecasted live over multiple channels. After taking the oath, the vowed to "build a prosperous, strong, democratic, civilized, harmonious and great modern socialist country". The event also saw the delegates declare their allegiance to the constitution of the country in a demonstration of loyalty and unanimity.

This coronation sets him as the longest-serving president of communist China and serving in the position of power well into his seventies. He was at the helm of the nation as China grew from a relatively poor country to a rising global power.

But at the very beginning of his third term, the world's second-largest economy comes face to face with some major issues. Slowing growth, a troubled real estate sector, a declining birth rate and an overall dislike in the masses are some of the issues that he will encounter in the coming term.
