The National Museum Institute was formed and registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 on January 27, 1989. It was granted the status of a university on 28 April 1989. The Institute, since its inception, has been a leading center in the country for training and research in the field of art and cultural heritage. This institute is also located inside the National Museum Complex. The objective is to provide students with direct exposure to masterpieces of art and cultural heritage and to provide easy access to the National Museum's facilities, such as laboratories, libraries, storage/reserve collections and technical support sections, for holistic learning.
