Started as a small health centre in 1912 to cater the need of few British soldiers, the centre the institute has trekked through many a hurdles to reach the present status. The institution glorifying its grandeur is spreading the health care service beyond the border of districts of East Siang & State of Arunachal. The hospital originally located in the bank of the Siang, had to be shifted to the present site following the massive erosion by the Mighty Siang after the great earthquake in 1950, on Independence Day.
