The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office, Shillong invites applications from eligible candidates for the post of Counselors in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas located under Shillong Region on a contractual basis for the Academic session 2022-23. Desirous candidates can check all the job details of no of posts, age limit, salary, qualification, etc prescribed below:

Educational Qualification

1. Master's Degree (M.A/M.Sc.) in Psychology from a recognized university or institution.

And

2. One-year Diploma in Guidance & Counselling from a recognized university or institution.

Experience:-

(i) At least one year of experience in Guidance & Counselling in educational institutes, for the COVID period minimum of 03 months of engagement during the session 2020-21 & 2021-22 will also be counted as a complete year of experience.

(ii) For non-JNV experience, the Candidate must submit a certificate of satisfactory performance and good conduct from the previous employer.

Desirable Qualifications:- Certificate courses from recognized institutes in areas like –

(i) Cognitive behavior therapy skills

(ii) Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder(ADHD)

(iii) Behavioural issues and learning difficulties

(iv) Building emotional intelligence and resilience

(v) Adolescence Education

Application Fee

Non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500/- per candidate will be charged. the candidate will be charged. However, SC / ST and PH candidates will be exempted. Exempted candidates have to submit the appropriate certificate.

About JNV 

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) is a system of central schools for talented students predominantly from rural areas in India. They are run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Noida, an autonomous organization under the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE),[a] Government of India. JNVs are fully residential and co-educational schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, with classes from VI to XII standard.

JNVs are specifically tasked with finding talented children in rural areas of India through JNVST (JNV Selection Test) and providing them with an education equivalent to the best residential school system, without regard to their families' socio-economic condition.

The Budget for Education, Boarding and activities at JNVs are provided by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and it's free of cost for the students during the 7 years of stay.

JNVs exist all over India, with the exception of Tamil Nadu. As of 30 September 2019, 636 JNVs were running with about 265,574 students enrolled, out of which 206,728 (≈78%) were from rural areas. In 2022, JNVs were the top-ranked C.B.S.E. schools, having a pass percentage of 99.71% and 98.93% in 10th and 12th grades respectively.
