About North Eastern Council - The North Eastern Council is the nodal agency for the economic and social development of the North Eastern Region which consists of the eight States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. The North Eastern Council was constituted in 1971 by an Act of Parliament.The constitution of the Council has marked the beginning of a new chapter of concerted and planned endeavour for the rapid development of the Region. Over the last thirty five years, NEC has been instrumental in setting in motion a new economic endeavour aimed at removing the basic handicaps that stood in the way of normal development of the region and has ushered in an era of new hope in this backward area full of great potentialities.

| Adviser | Recognized medical qualifications included in the First Schedule or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956). Holders of educational qualifications included in Part-II of the Third schedule should also fulfill the conditions stipulated in sub-section (3) of Section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956). Post Graduate Degree or Diploma mentioned in Schedule VI of Central Health Service or equivalent; 16 years' standing in Medical profession including five years' administrative experience. (Period of deputation or contract including period of deputation or contract in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization or Department of the Central Government, shall ordinarily not exceed five years.
