Game of glorious uncertainty

Truly cricket is the game of glorious uncertainty! Just see after demolishing England in the first ODI two day back, on a helpful wicket, but the same India with the inclusion of Virat Kohli played dismally on a much better Lord's wicket. No amount of sarcasm is enough to describe this shoddy batting display. If England succumbed to superb bowling on a helpful Oval wicket, here in Lord's Indian batsman threw away their wickets to simple disciplined bowling by England. One wonders why Kohli is in the team, only to see his Bhangra dance in the ground? As a result, the Jos Buttler-led English side completed a thumping 100-run victory over India to level the series and take it to the decider on Sunday. On the lines of the first ODI, the Indian bowlers thought they had shut down the English batting before a rearguard action from Moeen Ali (47) and David Willey (41) helped England set up a respectable total (246).

The Indian chase never took off as the English bowlers, led by Reece Topley (6/24, just a replica of Bumrah's bowling on Tuesday), picked up wickets at regular intervals. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja tried to put up a fight but England closed out the game on 146 runs, 100 runs short. It's high time for the top half to make way for fresh legs and spirited youngsters. There is no point in persisting with the same batsmen like Kohli and Rohit who are failing time and again.
