Syndicates Galore

We have been coming across news of syndicates on different counts that include, among others, necessary commodities like fish, egg, coal, areca leaves and now dried areca nuts (supari). In the print and electronic media too we come across news on syndicates. In fact, not a single day passes without syndicate related news. Again, we found syndicate on transport in Karbi Anglong. It is axiomatic that without tacit blessings of some bureaucrats or even of M.L.As and ministers such means of swindling money cannot take place in the shape of syndicates.The coal syndicate in the Barak Valley rocks the BJP-led State government. With the arrest of the mafioso Abdul Ahad Choudhury the names of many bureaucrats, MLAs and ministers came to the fore. Thankfully, the State Government has ordered a CBI probe into this multi-core-rupee coal syndicate scam.We found quite a good number of syndicates during the regime of Tarun Gogoi for long 15 years. With the fall of the Congress government, the word syndicate would be no longer in vogue as it had been; it was presumed, removed root and branch. But as days roll by,we start finding, to our dismay the reappearance of the ugly face of syndicate in a more vigorous way than what it was during the Congress regime. It is a known fact that without annihilation of syndicate the pulling down of prices of the commodities is a distant dream. It pains us to note that the State Government fails miserably to curb this nuisance and allows the prices to soar up unbridled. Then what is the difference between the Congress and the BJP?

Fake news .. Social Media.. Pay for it

A solution must be found to combat fake news and rumours being spread through social media before others lose their lives in this bizarre wave of fear. The government must implement strict regulation and take legal action against the crazed transmitters of such messages, while the mainstream media should take action to counter fake news.

Otherwise also social media is being misused more than of its real purpose of exchanging initially only personal messages. A curb like making it on payment basis, perhaps will restrict its misuse and quite a large of its users who are wasting their valuable time and spoiling health and social life will be relieved from this disease.
