BE BODY CONFIDENT

One study found that people who spent more time on social media were more likely to have eating problems and have a negative body image. So make an effort to avoid as much negativity as you can. Curate your social media stream and hide the advertisements for fad diets. Seek for people who are upbeat, love themselves, and will support you in being who you are.

You are not alone if having body confidence is a problem for you. Whatever the cause of your own difficult relationship with how you appear, it is crucial to break the destructive loop of negative self-talk and give self-love a high priority. In fact, research shows that general happiness and physical self-confidence are related. But first, it's important to keep in mind that you don't need to change a single aspect of who you are in order to develop higher body confidence; you are wonderful and deserving of being loved just the way you are. Muting the inner voice that tells you differently and developing more compassion are both steps in the process of developing a healthier connection with yourself.

Despite how simple the idea may appear; it can be difficult to love one's body. Amongst women between the ages of 18 and 30, did you know that 70 per cent of them detest their bodies? And males aren't doing much better either; 45 per cent of them claim to be unhappy with their physique. You are not alone if you experience body-negative feelings. Just like brushing your teeth regularly keeps your teeth healthy, changing the way we think involves daily effort. It isn't always an exhilarating ride. It's acceptable if some of the job seems dull at times or even stupid. You'll need to figure out what works for you among the many methods you might work on body positivity. We've compiled a few of our favourite techniques to remind ourselves that our bodies are gifts, not burdens, to get you started on your self-love journey.

Positive Affirmations

Speaking it out loud and on a regular basis, especially when it's challenging to express gratitude for our bodies, is one of the simplest and most powerful ways we can practise self-love. Encourage and remind yourself verbally each day. This could entail saying something encouraging to yourself in the morning in front of the mirror, posting motivational sticky notes on your nightstand, or even programming daily motivational messages into your phone or computer. Find slogans that speak to you about body positivity and self-love. And keep in mind that while some of this work may seem stupid, that doesn't necessarily indicate that it isn't functioning. Keep going. Being a little silly won't harm you.

Think healthier rather than thinner

Don't base your fitness goals on a number you'd like to see on the scale whether you're preparing meals or working out. The best way to treat our body with respect and gratitude is to engage in regular exercise and eat a balanced diet. Therefore, focus on all the beautiful things your body can accomplish, all the places it can take you, how it feels, and the experiences it provides, rather than how much it weighs or how it is shaped. Then, honour it with wholesome meals and enjoyable activity.

Give others your sincere praise

We frequently cast our own insecurities onto others. Because we are so tough on ourselves, we are also harsh on others. However, it also allows us to be kinder to ourselves when we allow ourselves to be good to others. Give someone a compliment that you wish you had received at a time when you most needed it. Tell someone they're rocking their outfit today and be someone else's silver lining.

Surround yourself with uplifting people

We are constantly exposed to negative messages about our bodies, and these messages have a way of creeping into our minds and provoking our fears. This might be body-negative people in your life, altered images of models on billboards, or even body-negative posts on social media. One study found that people who spent more time on social media were more likely to have eating problems and have a negative body image. So, make an effort to avoid as much negativity as you can. Curate your social media stream and hide the advertisements for fad diets. Seek for people who are upbeat, love themselves, and will support you in being who you are.

Concentrate on your positive attributes

Replace any unfavourable thoughts you have about your body with ones that are constructive. Consider creating a list of your favourite aspects of your physique. Not just how it seems, but also the activities it enables. List every item. We have a tendency to focus on what makes us unhappy while ignoring the positives. To break out of that way of thinking, it will take daily repetition. Just keep at it.

Abandon comparisons with others

A person might be of any size or shape. The following person is more attractive than the first in a different way. And isn't it the ideal situation? Try to picture how monotonous it would be if there were just one way to be and experience beauty. You could feel like you don't look as well as you should when you compare yourself to others, but the truth is that you should look like you.

Stop talking badly to yourself

Similar to how you would treat a buddy, be kind to your body. Additionally, refrain from discussing anything about your body if it's anything you'd feel uncomfortable talking about a friend's body. Self-talk that is negative just serves to reinforce bad thought processes in the body. You shouldn't subject oneself to verbal abuse, especially from yourself.

Learn to embrace your body

Because, as we've already mentioned, there are a lot of negative messages in the world concerning bodies, it's important to counteract them with some excellent, optimistic viewpoints. There is a tonne of excellent writing about body image out there, and many readers have found it to be really helpful in their journeys. Just to get you started, here are some recommended readings from Psychology Today and a list of body-positive blogs from Bustle. Here is a supplemental list of songs from Billboard with body-positive sentiments in case you'd rather listen than read.

Practice self-care and thank your body

When was the last time you gave something to your body as a thank-you for sticking with me? Set aside some time to relax in the grass, take a bubble bath, or stroll to a scenic location. Another present is a good nap.

Consider yourself as a totality

Remember that you are so much more than your appearance! In order to have a good body image, stop your fixation on your body as it is a very crucial component. Try to think about topics other than your appearance more often. Go on and give your passions your all. Take up a new pastime. Take a pal to the movies. Create something Your physique serves a purpose other than being something to admire. So, venture outside and start working.

Last but not least, consider having a positive body image as a practise rather than a goal. Self-acceptance is a daily activity, not a state that must be attained. Therefore, don't blame yourself if you occasionally fall behind. You should keep in mind that you are still learning and that even little, tentative moves represent progress.
