Nowadays with the fast changing trend, our lifestyles have been facing some kind of health hazards. One such example is Diabetes. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which a person suffers from high blood glucose (or Blood sugar), either due to inadequate production of insulin or the body's cell do not respond properly to insulin. Sometimes they are genetic in nature, sometimes lifestyle habits such as poor diet, lack of exercises and high stresses contribute to the increase in high blood sugar level.

Following this, Dr.S K Wangnoo, Senior Consultant-Endocrinology, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals has suggested few points on our day-to-day lifestyle that helps in preventing diabetes.

Breathing clean air. But with the development of Urbanization, people do not get adequate fresh air. In a recent report by the Lancet, air pollution is linked to diabetes. Pollution triggered inflammation which reduces the insulin action and hence it is very important to breath clean air. Whereas a normal person spends 80 per cent of their time indoor, investing in a good air purifier is the best solution for clean air.

Intake of plenty of water and avoiding alcohol also helps in preventing diabetes. water is considered to be the best and the most natural beverage one can have. maximum intake of water helps in flushing out all sugary and aerated drinks. following this, few studies have also revealed that increased water intake may lead to better blood sugar control and insulin response. Apart from this, it is also important to limit your alcohol intake as it can lead to weight gain and may upsurge your blood pressure and triglyceride levels.

Though we find a common caution statement in every cigarette advertisement or on cigarette packets that "Cigarette is injurious to health", yet some people crave for smoking. According to many reports, smoking has proven to contribute to major and serious health-related issues such as heart attack, cancer, TB and even diabetes. Smokers are twice as likely to develop diabetes as non-smokers.

Following this, another Doctor from Medanta, Beena Bansal, Director, Endocrinology and Diabetology stated that air pollution in India has caused serious issues and its major sources are fueling adulteration, vehicular emissions and traffic congestion. Moreover, a majority of Indian population lacks access to clean-burning fuels and uses biomass combustion as cooking fuel

Another major cause that directly hit health problems such as aggravated cardiovascular and respiratory illness is the high level of air pollution that later damages the cells in the respiratory system.

Regarding the ongoing health hazard and increase level of air pollution, Blueair Country Head, Arvind Chabra, stated that an average individual spends 90 per cent of the time indoors and indoor air can be 5 times more polluted. Investing in a good air purifier can be a healthy decision. He had also suggested the use of 'HEPASilent'. This is an advanced technological purifier and it ensures a consistent flow of clean air in the room.
