Kaziranga National Park

Kamakhya

Kamakhya Temple is one of India's 51 Shakti Peeths. It's a prominent tourist destination in Guwahati due to its ancient Tantric worship. Lord Shiva and Daksha Yagna are the temple's principal deities. The temple is famous for the annual Ambubachi eventwhich usually falls in June.

Assam Zoo and Botanical Garden

Guwahati's Hengrabari Reserve Forest houses the Assam State Zoo. Visitors can observe different species of animals, birds, and reptiles. The 1957 botanical garden and Cumberland Zoo now comprise tigers, clouded leopards, elephants, and leopards. Here reside chimpanzees, rhinos, kangaroos, giraffes, zebras, pumas, ostriches, jaguars, and llamas.

Umananda Island

This sacred island is a must-see in Assam in June. This little islet, dubbed Peacock Island by the British, is in the middle of the Brahmaputra and easily accessible from Guwahati. This tiny island holds the Lord Shiva-dedicated Umananda Temple. The scenic beauty is enchanting.

JORHAT

Majuli

The largest inhabited river island in the Brahmaputra, Mauli was earlier a subdivision of Jorhat district. In 2016 it became a separate district. Majuli's natural beauty makes it a major tourist destination. Dotting the island are neo-Vaishnavite monasteries known as the Satras, the more famous ones being Kamalabari, Natun Kamalabari, Samaguri, Auniati and Dakhinpaat, This is a must see in Assam. Hollongapar Wildlife Sanctuary

Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary is less than 20 kilometres from Jorhat's main centre. This wildlife sanctuary, surrounded by the Bhogdoi river and tea fields. It is a must-see for wildlife and nature lovers of Assam. The endangered Hoolock Gibbon, a primate can be sighted here.

Tocklai Tea Research Institute

The Tocklai Tea Research Institute was founded in 1911 and is among the world's largest and oldest research centres of tea. The world's tea science comes from Assam. Every day, researchers here study tea's extraction, production, and processing to boost its nutritional content. This is a renowned Assam tourist destination because of its tea processing and tasting excursions.

TEZPUR

Tezpur, Assam's most beautiful city, with unsurpassed natural beauty and a vibrant culture. This city's attractiveness is enhanced by the Brahmaputra river. Theatres, traditional dances, and cultural events make it Assam's cultural hub. The city's tea estates are a bonus.

Nameri National Park

Nameri National Park has Bengal tigers, elephants, leopards, gaurs, wild pigs, and sambars. Birdwatchers love Nameri's avifauna. Haflong is considered as the "Scotland of Assam" because of its hills and valleys. Haflong is a popular camping, hiking, and trekking destination in Assam.

Haflong Lake

It is Assam's top tourist attraction. This city lake offers watersports, boating, fishing, and bird watching because migratory birds winter here. The Dima Hasao Tourist-Forest Department and Council protect the lake. The tortoises in Hajong Lake are famous.

Haflong Hills

Paragliding and trekking are popular in Assam. This hill's vibe is enchanting. Mountains and beautiful vegetation are Instagram-worthy. Haflong Hill, the lone hill station in Haflong, is known for its scenery and culture.

Panimoor Falls

It is commonly called as the Oil City of Assam. Assam's oldest refinery is located here. Digboi. In Tinsukia district is intriguing and rustic. This town has traditional textiles, huge golf courses, and Italian architecture.

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary

This park in the eastern Himalayan foothills offers unmatched vistas of snowy Himalayan peaks and endless orchid meadows. Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary borders Arunachal Pradesh and combines with Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary. The park's marshy terrain and ecosystem are birdwatchers' paradise.
