The benefits of Aerobic exercise are very well known to all of us. Scientists and researchers all over the world do not cease to repeat it at every opportunity. One study after another shows the beneficial effects of exercise on our mind and body.

Daily exercise can help us to lose weight, eliminate and manage stress, stimulates the immune system and reduces the risk of certain diseases. There are many forms of exercise, which can be classified into two main categories, i.e., the aerobics, and the anaerobic exercises. In particular, the aerobic exercise refers to any low-intensity activity that increases the heartbeat rate while the high-intensity physical activity is called anaerobic exercise, e.g., bodybuilding.

Aerobic exercise is any activity that gets your blood pumping and large muscle groups working. It’s also known as the cardiovascular activity. The aerobic exercise includes brisk walking, swimming, heavy cleaning or gardening, running, cycling, and playing soccer.

Experts recommend getting at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise, or 75 minutes of vigorous activity each week. Brisk walking or swimming are examples of moderate activity. Running or cycling are examples of vigorous activity.

But why is aerobic exercise recommended to us? Here are some benefits of incorporating aerobic exercise into your routine:

  1. Lower Blood Pressure: Cardiovascular exercise may help you to manage symptoms of high blood pressure. That’s because exercise can help to lower blood pressure. So, these are some other ways to lower blood pressure without medication.
  2. Improves Brain Power: It is said that our brain starts losing tissue after we reach age 30. Scientists have uncovered that aerobic exercise may slow this loss and improve cognitive performance. To test this theory, 55 older adults submitted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans for evaluation. The participants were then examined to assess their health, including aerobic fitness.
  3. Weight loss: You may have heard that diet and exercise are the building blocks to weight loss. But aerobic exercise alone may hold the power to help you lose weight and keep it off. During exercise, the body burns lots of fats and as a result, the total body fat is reduced.
  4. Reducing diseases: The extra weight is an aggravating factor in the emergence of heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes and certain types of cancer. The risk to develop some of these diseases decreases as we lose some weight. There is data showing that walking can reduce the risk of osteoporosis and the complications involved. While exercises with the water such as swimming and water aerobics may help people with arthritis.
  5. Increase Longevity: Research by the University of Harvard, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1986, revealed that for the first time there was a scientific link between exercise and longevity. Since then, other research confirms this initial assessment.
  6. Improve Cardiovascular Healthy: Aerobic exercise is recommended by the American Heart Association and by most of the doctors to people with, or at risk for, heart disease. That’s because exercise strengthens your heart and helps it more efficiently pump blood throughout the body.
