Kalawa also known as Rakshasutra is a tied on the wrist by many people and believers with the belief that it will protect them from evil.

As per the Hindu belief, the Kalawa consists of several divine powers that can save e person from problems and all negative energy.

Apart from Rakshasutra and Kalawa, the holy thread tied on the wrist during worship is also called by many as Mauli.

The ritual of tying the red, yellow or orange coloured thread in your hand is followed during the occasion of every puja (worship) of Hindu gods.

There is also some scientific and mythological significance behind tying Kalawa in hands which are important to know before going in line with the belief system.

Mythological Significance:

According to the Hindu scriptures, Goddess Laxmi was the one who for the first time tied Kalawa as a protection thread in the hands of King Bali by making him her brother.

A person with Kalawa on his hands is believed to be under the blessings of the holy trinity Bharma, Vishnu and Mahesh and it also pleases the 3 powerful goddesses Saraswati, Parvati and Lakshmi.

Vedas says that when Indra Devta was going on battle with Vratsur, Indrani Shachi had tied a Kalawa on the right wrist of Lord Indra. Kalawa is considered healthy and auspicious to tie on hands as it is inhabited by gods and goddesses.

Scientific Significance:

Apart from the religious importance, wearing a red thread or Kalawa in hands also holds major scientific significance with various health benefits.

Some of the major veins connect directly with the heart of a person and a Kalawa tied on your hands controls these veins in proper functioning.
