GUWAHATI: The FIFA finally declared new dates for the U-17 Women's World Cup, which was earlier postponed because of COVID-19. The event will now start from February 17.

As Guwahati is one of the five venues of the mega soccer event, the secretary of the Assam Football Association Hemendra Nath Brahma feels positive while talking with The Sentinel. He said, "Announcement of the new date of the competition is good news. We would work together with the LOC to make the competition a grand success."

He further added: "The next executive meeting of the All India Football Federation will be held tomorrow through video conference. One of the agenda of the meeting is FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. A details discussion on the competition is expected to be held in the meeting and a few key decisions on the preparation of the championships may also be taken in it."
