NEW DELHI: In the latest monthly price revision in line with global benchmarks, aviation turbine fuel and commercial liquefied petroleum gas saw reductions on Wednesday, providing relief to the aviation and hospitality sectors.

The aviation turbine fuel (ATF) price was reduced by Rs 1,401.37 per kilolitre, or 1.52 per cent, to Rs 90,455.47 per kl in the national capital – home to one of the busiest airports in the country, according to state-owned fuel retailers. This is after two successive hikes in November and December, which had pushed ATF prices up by Rs. 2,941.5 and Rs. 1,318.12 per kilolitre, respectively. In Mumbai, another major aviation hub, ATF rates declined to Rs. 84,511.93 per kilolitre from the previous Rs. 85,861.02.

Commercial LPG rates too declined, for the first time in five successive monthly increases. Rates for a 19-kg cylinder were reduced by Rs. 14.5 to Rs. 1,804 in Delhi. In Mumbai, the rate stands at Rs. 1,756, in Kolkata at Rs. 1,911, and in Chennai at Rs. 1,966. Earlier increases had collectively pushed up commercial LPG rates by Rs. 172.5 per cylinder.

Domestic LPG prices stay the same at Rs. 803 per 14.2-kg cylinder. All state-owned refineries, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, continue their practice of raising fuel prices on a monthly basis depending on fluctuations in international market prices and currency variations.
