Renewable Energy projects to get an extension of time: MNRE Secretary

New Delhi: Renewable Energy projects under implementation will be given extension of time considering period of lockdown and time required for re-mobilization of workforce, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Secretary Anand Kumar said.

Kumar made the announcement through a tweet following Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi’s announcement for a complete lockdown across the country for 21 days from Tuesday midnight, asserting that it was “very necessary to break the chain of coronavirus infection.”

The MNRE Secretary also accepted that the spread of coronavirus has not only disrupted the supply chain of components used in Renewable Energy projects but also has impacted the availability of workforce.

In this context, Kumar said, the announcement of the extension of time will provide great relief to all the stakeholders in Renewable Energy sector.

As per Kumar’s announcement, the extension of time for Renewable Energy projects under implementation will consider the lockdown period which will continue till April 14. (IANS)
