Robust Data Protection Regime Need of the Hour: Experts

New Delhi: At a time when India has taken a tough stand towards maintaining data privacy and data localisation, industry stakeholders here on Wednesday discussed an urgent need for a robust data protection regime architected on global principles. With data becoming one of the key features of innovation, transactions, governance and policy discourse, the experts deliberated on the broadening impact of data at the “India Data Leadership Summit 2018” organised by the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) — a premier industry body on data protection in India by Nasscom. “In the last one year, data and contours of data economy have shaped the conversations of business leaders, global think tanks, and governments across the world. In India, our members have been partnering with government to support India’s digitisation Journey,” said Rama Vedashree, CEO, DSCI.

“We will continue to engage with government to have a data protection regime architected on the global principles, best practices, legislation and enforcement that will fuel our digital economy,’ she added. (IANS)
