After the University Grant Commission (UGC) issued its revised guidelines on July 6 and UGC standard operating process (SOP) on July 8, the Commission is facing lots of criticism across the country. In the revised guidelines and SOP, UGC did not mention the classes, it only mentioned when and how it would conduct exams.
After the first UGC guidelines issued on April 29, many media reports and analyses by intellectuals made it clear that online classes could not cover all classes of students in the country. Many educational institutes tried to conduct the internal exams via online, some students succeed to face the exam, but some did not. One of my friends said that he had missed one of his unit tests because of poor network. Some days ago, a small boy commits suicide because he cannot afford to have a good smartphone to attend online classes.
A few days ago, WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghabreyesus repeatedly said that there would be no return to the old normal for the foreseeable future. So, in this situation, many students got confused about what would they do now. But Tedroos also said one more thing that there is a roadmap to a situation. So, in the time of the pandemic, the authority needs to think of all classes of students. Also, the students' community needs to come forward so that the authority can take a good decision. Remember 'time and tide wait for none'.
