Guwahati Nagarik Samaj?

Watching the regional news channels I was shocked to hear that the Nagarik Samaj of Guwahati has mooted further extension of the lockdown by two weeks. I tried to figure out who are the members of the so-called Nagarik Samaj, but I failed to get any clue. Every citizen of Guwahati should know the names of the people who were invited by the government under the banner of the Nagarik Samaj, and also on what grounds these people were selected to represent the voice of Guwahatians. We all have patiently stood up with the government without any question but now things are getting extremely difficult for the common people (government servants excluded) to sustain life. Coronavirus pandemic is no doubt very dangerous, but how long people can survive with the lockdown. Starvation will become another pandemic very soon. The government has to take into consideration all strata of people before declaring their next move. I appreciate that daily-wage earners and BPL people's needs are taken care of by the government, but what about the middle class. This class is always deprived of benefits. They are made to pay through their noses.

Further extension of the lockdown cannot be the solution. Creating public awareness on the guidelines of the Health department is the only solution.
