TB patients on back burner

Tuberculosis prevention and care during the COVID-19 pandemic is an important issue that needs immediate attention. Health services need to be actively engaged for an effective and rapid response to COVID-19 while ensuring that TB and other health services are maintained. It is often heard that TB patients and some other serious patients are not taken care of properly at present due to COVID-19 patients. As such, I would like to request the department concerned, Health and Family Welfare Department to look into the issue seriously as the TB patients may be easily attacked by the virus.

Electoral reforms

The Uttar Pradesh Government is considering a proposal for candidates of forthcoming Panchayat polls in the State which is expected to be held early next year. In this proposal, the government includes a two-child norm and a minimum education clause for contesting candidates. This is the need of the hour and seems to be the right step towards electoral reforms. Population control and educated representatives, both are related to our future. It will be better that such an initiative should too start at all levels of elections and create a healthy environment in democracy. After that, we can be able to elect accountable representatives.
