Change of guards: Letters To The Editor

There is no denying the fact that Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world. In addition, he is also a successful captain. He has been accredited with taking Indian test cricket to great heights for triumphing over the SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries on their land. But unfortunately, under his captainship, the Indian cricket team has not yet registered a single win in major ICC tournaments. Post World Test Championship; there have been debates on the change of guards in the Indian cricket team. But from my point of view as an ardent lover of cricket, he should continue as the captain. Indian cricket will certainly be crowned with success under his leadership in major ICC tourneys ahead.

Indian toys

It is a good initiative that PM Narendra Modi has advocated the promotion of Indian toys. India is a big market for toys; however, its manufacturing is very poor. We import maximum toys from other countries, especially from China. If this industry grows fast, it will save money and as well as generate employment.

No OBC for Miyas

Barpeta MP from Congress, Abdul Khalid is heard pleading for OBC status to people residing in sar areas, the Miya people. This leader in the past raised a demand for asylum to Rohingyas from Myanmar on the floor of the Assembly. He threatened to go on a hunger strike if his demands were not fulfilled. His latest demand is absurd. When the majority of the people are not satisfied with the NRC as they believe lakhs of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh are there in the NRC, the Barpeta MP is trying to add another Constitutional privilege to people of suspected nationalities. At least full NRC verification in sar areas should be carried out. It has come to light how fraudulently such people entered their names in the NRC.

The privileges like SC, ST, OBC, etc given to certain sections by the Constitution should be completely reserved for the indigenous Indian citizens (though I am against the reservation system). It is observed that a few numbers are voicing the same tone as Abdul Khalid in FB. Thy OBC status to Miya people would be another blunder as it will encourage more infiltration.

Great judgment

The Calcutta High Court has rejected the plea of the West Bengal government to stay the order on the post-poll violence probe by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). This is a big slap by the Honourable High Court on the TMC government. Unprecedented violence and arson were committed by the supporters and goons of Mamata Banerjee upon the supporters of BJP in particular and sporadic attacks on Congress and CPI supporters. Fearing violence many people left their homes and took asylum in Assam. Our CM Himanta Biswa Sarma immediately provided relief and made arrangements for medical treatment for the injured and ill ones. The magnanimity shown by the Assam government was of the highest order and the ruthlessness displayed by Mamata Banerjee upon the indigenous people was an act of betrayal towards the nation. Under Mamata Banerjee, the State of West Bengal has been pushed behind by 20 years. If proper investigation happens more skeletons will come out of Mamata Banerjee's cupboard.

Star policeman

Borsing Bey, the man of the hour who has helped the Assam Police revive its respect after many scandals rocked the very foundation of honesty and selfless service. The Assam government's decision to appoint Bey as a constable is welcomed by all. Bey has not only proved that honesty is the best policy but also has encouraged the honest officers of the department to continue their selfless service. All eyes will now be on Borsing Bey as he is now a star policeman and the poster boy for honesty, he would now have to work harder to keep up with his image. It is seen that with power even the honest ones falter on their way. I believe Bey will not let that happen and continue to be an inspiration for many.
