Lip Service by Politicians

Lip Service by Politicians

Come election time, all major political parties publish their manifestos making sundry commitments about what they would do for the people once voted to power. But once in power, all commitments are forgotten. Before the BJP took over reins in Assam, Congress made all sorts of commitments. When the people noticed how they were being exploited, they started shunning the Congress. The same mistake is now being repeated by BJP. If we look at the works of development done by the BJP's State leadership, they too like their predecessor cut a sorry figure. Let us take the State BJP's much-hyped slogan 'Jati-Mati-Bheti', but in reality, what are we getting? Another commitment made by the BJP was 'separate recruitment policy cum reservation of posts' exclusively for the North-East in Indian Railways, which has turned out to be mere farce as shown by reports published in a section of the press. A recent report says that 899 candidates coming from Bihar, U.P., Haryana and Rajasthan joined in fourth grade posts in Indian Railway Divisions of Lumding, Tinsukia, Dima Hasao, Dhemaji, Rongia secretly. Are our candidates not even competent for grade four posts? Candidates from the North-East, particularly those from Assam, are always victims of conspiracy by the anti North-East lobby. The commitment made by State BJP has thus turned out to be mere eyewash. Now the BJP is straining every nerve and sinew to win all the four assembly seats in Assam going for bye-election on October 21. Politicians should not cheat people as they know how to hit back.
