Lockdown affects street vendors

The corona pandemic and prolonged lockdown have devastated the lives of street vendors. They have lost their sources of earnings and are left in the lurch for their survival. In India, many more people engage themselves as street vendors. Even in Guwahati, around forty thousand street vendors are there. But due to the lockdown, their opportunities for doing business have been badly affected. Their lives have become miserable. At present, most of them are unable to feed their families, which could leave many of them starving. Therefore, the government should look into the matter seriously and take necessary steps to provide some sources of earning to the street vendors or prepare some scheme to help them so that they may live a normal life with their families.
